Darkling beetle (likely a flour beetle)

Stored-grain products, pantries, mills, animal feed, and other dry-food environments; adults may wander onto household surfaces.

Adults and larvae feed mainly on flour, grains, cereals, processed grain products, and other dry plant materials.

Small, oval, reddish-brown to dark beetles; they hide in food residues and packaging, reproduce in infested dry goods, and can persist for weeks or months.

They are not dangerous to people and do not bite, but they contaminate stored food and indicate an infestation. They have little notable ecological benefit indoors.
