Spotted orb-weaver (likely)

Gardens, woodland edges, porches, and buildings, especially near exterior lights. Common across much of eastern and central North America.

Captures flies, moths, mosquitoes, and other flying insects in a sticky orb web. It injects digestive enzymes and consumes liquefied tissues.

Usually builds a fresh circular web at dusk and removes or repairs it by morning. Adults are primarily nocturnal; females are larger and remain near the web, while males wander in search of mates.

Generally harmless to people and not medically significant; bites are rare and usually mild. Beneficial as a predator of nuisance and pest insects.
