Mealybug

Warm indoor environments, greenhouses, and outdoor agricultural or garden settings, typically found on the stems, leaves, and roots of plants.

Plant sap, which they extract using piercing-sucking mouthparts.

They are slow-moving insects that often secrete a powdery, waxy white substance for protection. Females are wingless and stay on plants, while males are tiny, winged creatures that do not feed and only live to mate.

Risks include damaging and stunting plant growth, transmitting plant viruses, and secreting honeydew which leads to sooty mold. They are considered major agricultural and horticultural pests with very few benefits outside of the ecosystem's food web.
