Darkling beetle (likely a small pantry beetle)

Found in stored food, grain-processing areas, poultry litter, compost, and other warm, sheltered places; adults may wander indoors.

Larvae and adults feed on grain products, flour, cereals, decaying organic matter, and sometimes animal feed.

Mostly nocturnal and secretive; adults hide in cracks and emerge to forage. Females lay eggs in food debris or organic material, and larvae develop there.

Generally harmless to people and does not bite or sting, but infestations can contaminate stored food. Some species recycle decaying matter and serve as prey for birds and other animals.
