Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Obligate blood feeders, primarily feeding on humans but also attacking other warm-blooded animals.
Behavior Patterns
Mainly nocturnal; they emerge from hiding spots at night to feed. They undergo hemimetabolous metamorphosis, passing through five nymphal stages that each require a blood meal to molt.
Risks & Benefits
While not known to transmit diseases, their bites cause itchy, red welts and potentially severe allergic reactions or psychological distress. They are significant urban pests with no ecological benefits to humans.
