Dry, sandy or dusty areas, including sheltered soil, wall edges, and occasionally indoor floors or corners.

The larva is a predatory ambush hunter that grasps ants and other small arthropods with powerful jaws and sucks out their fluids.

Larvae often burrow backward and may construct cone-shaped pit traps in loose sand. Adults are delicate, nocturnal or crepuscular, and resemble slender damselflies.
