Western Conifer Seed Bug

Coniferous forests, woodlands, and around human dwellings where they seek shelter during winter.

Feeds on the seeds and developing cones of various conifer trees using piercing-sucking mouthparts.

Active during warm months feeding on trees; seeks warm indoor spaces to overwinter as an adult, and can emit a pungent, foul-smelling odor when disturbed.

Harmless to humans as they do not bite or sting and do not transmit diseases, though they can become a household nuisance pest during autumn and winter when they aggregate indoors.
