Bed bug (likely a recently fed adult or nymph)

Mattresses, bed frames, upholstery, cracks, and other sheltered indoor crevices near sleeping hosts.

Feeds exclusively on blood, primarily from humans and occasionally other warm-blooded animals. It usually feeds at night and then hides.

Wingless, flattened insects that hide in groups and leave dark fecal spotting or shed skins. Females lay eggs in protected cracks; populations can persist for months without feeding.

Bites cause itchy, irritating welts but bed bugs are not established vectors of human disease. They provide no meaningful household or ecosystem benefit.
