Unidentified small beetle (possibly a carpet beetle)

Often found indoors near fabrics, carpets, stored clothing, window sills, and dead insects; adults may also occur outdoors on flowers.

Larvae consume keratin-rich materials such as wool, fur, feathers, hair, and dead insects. Adults generally feed on pollen and nectar or may not feed.

Larvae are secretive and may leave shed skins; adults are small, oval beetles that may fly toward light. Development can take months to over a year indoors.

Larvae can damage natural-fiber textiles and sometimes cause skin irritation from their hairs. They also recycle organic debris and serve as food for predators.
