Nursery Web Spider

Tall grass, low-growing bushes, gardens, and woodland edges

Carnivorous; hunts flies, mosquitoes, and other small insects by active stalking

Active during the day. Known for the male offering a silk-wrapped fly gift to the female to avoid being eaten during mating. Females carry their large egg sacs in their chelicerae and build a 'nursery tent' for spiderlings.

Benefits include controlling pest insect populations; they are harmless to humans and rarely bite unless severely provoked.
