Found in soil, rotting wood, and on vegetation; commonly found near lights at night.

Adults feed on plant materials such as leaves and pollen; larvae (wireworms) feed on decaying matter, roots, and seeds.

Known for a unique clicking mechanism that allows them to snap their body and jump into the air to right themselves or escape predators.

Adults are harmless to humans. However, their larvae (wireworms) can be significant agricultural pests by damaging the root systems of various crops.
