Grass Spider

Grassy areas, low bushes, leaf litter, woodpiles, and around human structures such as window sills, foundations, and plant pots.

Carnivorous; feeds primarily on small insects, including beetles, flies, moths, and aphids that land on its web.

Constructs dense, horizontal funnel-shaped webs with an open retreat at one end. Grass spiders wait inside the funnel and sprint out rapidly to subdue prey that steps onto the web surface. They do not have sticky webs.

Highly beneficial pest control for gardens and yards. They are harmless to humans; while they possess venom to subdue insect prey, their fangs rarely penetrate human skin and their bite is mild and non-dangerous.
