Behavior Patterns

Forage in trails and are known for large-scale territorial wars with neighboring colonies in early spring. They are highly social with complex maternal care.

Risks & Benefits

Generally considered a nuisance pest in homes. They do not possess a strong sting and are not aggressive to humans, but can contaminate food sources.
