Natural Habitat

Diet & Feeding
Adults feed on plant pollen and nectar. Larvae feed on organic animal-based materials including wool, feathers, fur, hair, dead insects, and dried animal products.
Behavior Patterns
Adults are attracted to light and frequently found near windows or light sources. Females lay eggs in dark, protected areas near food sources. They undergo complete metamorphosis (egg, larva, pupa, adult).
Risks & Benefits
Adults do not bite or transmit diseases. However, larval stages can cause damage to natural fabric items, clothing, carpets, and stored goods. Larval hairs can also trigger mild allergic skin reactions or respiratory irritation in sensitive individuals.
