Found under stones, logs, bark, leaf litter, and in gardens or agricultural fields worldwide.

Primarily carnivorous, feeding on other insects, caterpillars, slugs, snails, and occasionally seeds.

Mostly nocturnal, fast runners that actively hunt on the ground, rarely flying despite having wings.

Beneficial to gardens and agriculture as natural predators of pest insects; they do not sting and rarely bite humans unless handled roughly.
