Found in warm, humid indoor environments such as libraries, pantries, and damp walls.

Feeds on microscopic molds, fungi, starchy book bindings, and dry stored food products.

Active runners that avoid light; they reproduce rapidly via parthenogenesis in warm, humid conditions.

They do not bite or transmit disease, but large infestations can contaminate stored food and damage paper goods.
