Bird Louse

Primarily found on the feathers or skin of birds, though they may temporarily fall onto clothing or fabrics near bird nests.

Feeds on feathers, skin flakes, and sometimes blood or secretions from the host bird.

These are chewing lice that spend their entire life cycle on a host bird. They move between birds through direct contact or communal nesting areas.

While they cause irritation and feather damage to birds, they do not live on humans and cannot survive long without a bird host. They pose no significant risk to humans beyond temporary annoyance.
