Found in warm environments, near buildings, basements, and human habitations, as well as outdoors in warm climates.

Omnivorous, feeding on organic matter, decaying plant material, fabrics, and sometimes other insects.

Nocturnal creatures known for their distinctive chirping produced by males rubbing their wings together. They are strong jumpers and hide in dark, warm places during the day.

They generally do not harm humans, though large populations can damage clothing, paper, and crops. They are commonly bred as feeder insects for pets such as reptiles and amphibians.
