Found worldwide, primarily in indoor environments such as pantries, warehouses, and libraries where food or organic materials are stored.

A wide variety of dried plant and animal products, including flour, cereal, spices, dried herbs, pet food, and even leather or book bindings.

Adults are active flyers and are attracted to light. They reproduce quickly in warm environments, with females laying eggs directly on a food source so larvae can feed upon hatching.

This is a significant pest of stored products that can contaminate large food supplies. While not harmful to human health directly, they cause economic damage and food waste.
