Size: 1.7 cm (0.67 in) long and about 1.2 cm (0.47 in) wide.

Gardens, orchards, and agricultural fields in summer; often enters houses/buildings to overwinter.

Herbivorous: feeds on a variety of fruits, vegetables, and other plants including soybeans, apples, and peaches.

Known for releasing a pungent odor from scent glands when threatened; they congregate in large numbers on buildings during the fall.

Significant agricultural pest; nuisance pest in homes. They do not bite or sting humans but can cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
