Grasshopper

Grasslands, meadows, gardens, and other areas with abundant vegetation.

Mostly feeds on grasses, leaves, and other plant material.

Active mainly by day; jumps with enlarged hind legs and may fly short distances. Females lay eggs in soil.

Generally harmless to people and can serve as prey for wildlife; large numbers may damage crops and garden plants.
