Globe Skimmer

Widely distributed globally, found near temporary or permanent freshwater sources like ponds, lakes, and even swimming pools.

Carnivorous; both adults and larvae (nymphs) feed on other insects. Adults catch small flying insects mid-air, while nymphs prey on aquatic insects and small tadpoles.

Known for the longest migration of any known insect, traveling thousands of miles across oceans. They are strong fliers and often seen swarming or patrolling over open areas.

Benefits include natural pest control by consuming mosquitoes and other biting flies. They are harmless to humans and do not sting or bite.
