Bed bug

Found indoors, typically in cracks and crevices of mattresses, box springs, bed frames, headboards, and surrounding furniture.

Hematophagous; feeds exclusively on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded animals.

Noxtural and highly secretive, hiding in dark, narrow spaces during the day and emerging at night to feed. They undergo incomplete metamorphosis through five nymphal stages.

Risks include painful, itchy bites, secondary skin infections from scratching, allergic reactions, and significant psychological distress or insomnia. They provide no known ecological benefit in human habitations.
