Bed bug

Human sleeping areas, especially mattress seams, bed frames, upholstery, and cracks near resting places.

Obligate blood-feeders, primarily consuming human blood but also feeding on other warm-blooded animals.

Mostly nocturnal, hiding in crevices by day and emerging to feed. They can survive for months without a meal; females lay eggs in protected cracks.

Bites cause itchy, sometimes delayed skin reactions, but bed bugs are not established vectors of disease. They provide little household benefit and are difficult, costly pests to eliminate.
