Orb-weaver spider (likely barn orb-weaver)

Common around buildings, porches, barns, woodland edges, and other sites with sturdy structures for webs. Often hides in crevices by day and occupies its web at night.

Carnivorous; captures flies, moths, mosquitoes, and other flying insects in a sticky orb web, then immobilizes and consumes them.

Mostly nocturnal and generally solitary. It rebuilds or repairs its web regularly, and adults commonly appear near lights where insect prey gathers.

Not considered medically dangerous; bites are uncommon and usually cause only mild, temporary irritation. It is beneficial because it naturally controls nuisance and pest insects.
