Booklouse (Barklouse)

Humid environments, damp books, pantry shelves, and under bark or leaf litter.

Microscopic mold, fungi, starches, and organic debris found in glues or grains.

Photophobic (avoids light) and active in high humidity; they do not fly and move in jerky, scurrying motions.

Harmless to humans as they do not bite or spread disease, but they can be a nuisance and indicate a moisture or mold problem in the home.
