Walkingstick (stick insect)

Vegetation in forests, woodland edges, and shrublands; commonly rests among twigs and leaves.

Herbivorous, feeding on leaves, often from trees and shrubs.

Slow-moving and well camouflaged, it resembles a twig; many species are active at night and drop or sway to avoid predators.

Harmless to people and not venomous. It is part of the food web; large numbers may occasionally defoliate plants.
