Unidentified tiny mite (possibly a clover mite)

Often found on plants, soil, leaf litter, windowsills, and other surfaces near vegetation. The pictured individual appears to be on fabric or a similarly textured surface.

Clover mites feed mainly on plant juices from grasses, clover, and other vegetation; they do not typically bite people or pets.

They are slow-moving, tiny arachnids that may enter buildings through cracks, windows, or clothing. Populations can increase rapidly in warm, dry conditions, especially in spring and autumn.

Generally harmless to humans, pets, and structures, though crushed clover mites can leave reddish stains. They are minor plant pests and part of soil and garden food webs.
