Fruit fly

Drawn to the smell of fermentation, they exhibit a rapid life cycle, often completing it in about 8-10 days. They are very active during daylight hours.

Generally considered a nuisance pest in homes. They pose a minor risk of contaminating food with bacteria like salmonella or E. coli. Benefit the ecosystem as decomposers and serve as essential model organisms in scientific genetic research.
