Cave cricket or camel cricket

Dark, damp, and cool areas such as caves, basements, crawlspaces, and under logs or stones outdoors.

Omnivorous and scavenger; feeds on organic material including fabric, paper, fungi, wood, and occasionally other insects.

Nocturnal, wingless, and jump great distances when startled rather than chirping; they thrive in high-humidity indoor or underground environments.

They do not bite, transmit diseases, or cause structural damage, but their sudden jumping can startle people, and large numbers can become a nuisance household pest.
