Small dark beetle (likely carpet beetle)

Homes, especially carpets, upholstery, closets, and areas containing lint or natural fibers; also found outdoors on flowers.

Adults feed mainly on pollen and nectar. Larvae consume keratin-rich materials such as wool, feathers, fur, hair, and dead insects.

Adults are small, oval, and often mottled; larvae are hairy and avoid light. Larvae may persist unnoticed in furnishings and shed skins as they develop.

They do not bite or transmit disease, but larvae can damage woolens, furs, feathers, and other animal-based textiles; their hairs may irritate sensitive skin. Adults contribute to pollination and decomposition outdoors.
