Unidentified grasshopper or katydid

Usually found in grasses, shrubs, gardens, and roadside vegetation; this individual appears to be resting on a vehicle interior or window.

Typically feeds on leaves, grasses, flowers, or other plant material; some katydids also eat small insects or scavenged material.

Most are active during daylight or at night, jump or fly when disturbed, and undergo incomplete metamorphosis from nymph to adult. Identification is limited because the image is blurry and obscured by reflections.

Generally harmless to people and pets. They provide food for birds and other predators, though some species can damage crops or garden plants.
